Single pole operations

This is another type of suspension sawbuck. I call it the tooth grip sawbuck. Many of this style are built out of metal but in this example its shown with 4x4's.

Treated wood - Embedded in the ground

One thing I don't like about the first design is as your log gets shorter, you don't have the toe kick concept available - so that will need to be addressed in a future revision (perhaps embedding it in the ground). If you are using a longer chainsaw bar, you would probably be ok depending on what part of the bar you prefer to cut with. With this model you gain additional stability due to the weight of the dirt / gravel. However, the drawback being, its permanently in the same location for the most part. The other benefit though is you can get as close to the log and you want to.

Concrete Slots

Laying out the concrete so that the Tooth Grip Saw buck and be set in between them is another option available in V1-0-3. You may want to drive rebar into the ground before you poor the concrete so that the cement won't shift over time. By using a concrete template so to speak if you need to use your tooth grip sawbuck else where, then all you have to due is tip it up, load it onto a trailer or forklift, and off you go.
